putting my prediction on record now that the coming decade is going to see the rise of viral-marketed fancy at-home water filtration systems, driving and driven by a drastic reduction in the quality of U.S. tap water (given that we are in a 'replacement era' where our current infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifespan--but isn't being replaced). also guessing that by the 2030s access to drinkable tap water will be a mainstream class issue, with low-income & unstably housed people increasingly forced to rely on expensive bottled water when they can't afford the up-front cost of at-home filtration--and with this being portrayed in media as a "moral failing" and short-sighted "choice," rather than a basic failure of our political & economic systems. really hope i'm just being alarmist, but plenty of this already happens in other countries, and the U.S. is in a state of decline, so. here's praying this post ages into irrelevance. timestamped April 2023

And well--do you?#what are the chances the government just denies there's a problem until the water actually turns brown#at which point it's already been common knowledge for years and people have just become resigned and that's our new normal#i'm mean come on. how many of us already believe that we're being exposed to dangerous pollutants we don't know about and can't avoid#like that's pretty much just part of being a modern consumer. accepting that companies will happily endanger your life for a few pennies#and the most you'll get is like a $50 gift card as part of a class action rebate 20 years down the line#probably the history books will look back on Flint as a warning and a harbinger that went ignored#luxury condos will advertise their built-in top-of-the-line filtration systems--live here and you can drink water straight from your tap!#watch the elite professional class putting $700 dyson water filtration systems on their wedding registry#while the rest of us figure out how to fit water delivery into our grocery budget while putting 90% of our paycheck towards rent#also eggs are $15

I'm gonna be real here I don't think it should be legal for a landlord to dictate what pets a tenant is allowed to have. I'm renting this place; I gave you a safety deposit, I will bring whatever I damn well please into my own damn living space!

Have you guys ever had to leave an apt you just moved into? If so, how did you deal with it mentally cause I might have to do that and I'm about to have a fucking meltdown 🤮
#I'll keep this in the tags but basically we rented a condo#coincidentally the owner's wife happened to know my gf#so got the place pretty easily v quickly aigned a lease etc#anyway they had a month to prep it for move in#they themselves lived here for like 8 years so we were like for sure they took care of the place#well#it was filthy first of all#cabinet doors were falling off#there's a weird moldy smell and every time i open a new appliance theres scum and mold like you wouldnt believe#and this fucking guy is acting like we're nitpicking#i am so exhausted#and now hes like well if you guys are unhappy we can have a larger conversation#like#bro#NOT THE FUCKING POINT

#speak friend and enter#if i were a lesser man i would beg my mother for money but im not. i would rather adopt the rust cohle aesthetic#and live in a tiny studio with naught but my air mattress and my playstation than live on my knees yk.#ideally i'd like to scrounge up enough for a down payment on a condo so then it would be Mine and that's important to me#but it would delay my move by at least a little while. and idk if it's that important i can just rent something#but for the meantime. two jobs it shall be and hopefully that'll lead to more than like $100 in my checking account at any given moment#am i a fake marxist for having a rich mom who i only kinda sorta get along with. or is refusing her money praxis. discuss

#me @ me: no one cares#HATE my job. hate it#have to call landlords on the phone and then they are rude to me because *checks notes*#the HVAC system in a unit they own has been leaking for a year and the damage is so extensive itll cost 15k to fix#like damn sir im fucking sorry that you dont regularly have your units inspected for damage im really fucking beat up about that#its SUCH a shame that the damage is so bad its affected the unit below yours and now you have to pay for it#thats really so sad for YOU#this guys owns at least two possibly three condos in this community and lowkey i hope he dies#hes been very rude to me for no reason lmao#fuck me. as if its MY fault you dont pay any attention to whats happening in the condos you own#its almost like its your job to make sure things are functioning and livable when youre renting out a space to a human person#all landlords please kill yourselves#they are all such trash fucking people. literally only care about money.#i told him the approximate cost (the majority of which he wont be paying btw its billed to the building management)#and he was like WOW you guys will just charge WHATEVER YOU WANT you just raise prices WILLY NILLY#sir. we have to remove the HVAC system the washer/dryer AND the water heater#and then rip up all of the drywall and flooring in the living room and HVAC closet#and then put it back together. please please please please die. im begging.

i signed up at the local youth employment center to get help with the whole job thing (surprisingly, they accept anyone under 35!!) and my counselor is teaching me how to write a cover letter
and i'm a tad apprehensive about the fact that the draft i sent her to evaluate is uhh full of lies lol. like i hope she doesn't tell me to stop lying; that would be entirely unhelpful
#i'm not not gonna lie in job applications obv i just need help with framing my lies#but yeah. i am trying very hard to Start A Career instead of just taking another minimum wage job#bc sure i can get by living paycheck to paycheck but when shit hit the fan i had to ask my parents for money#and i never want to have to do that ever again#also i /will/ get renovicted when my elderly landlady dies which will double my rent if i wanna stay in my neighborhood#so. gotta plan for that#hopefully i can get a salaried job that pays enough that i can save up a down payment for a condo

I hate changing the colors to maintain a smooth gradient or I would've had more tiers and nuances... I'm often told Date's a worse driver than I remember, and Mitsu is sort of Schrodinger's License tier (minus the implication of high status) but. Y'know. If he's a civilian now and he's got a wife and kid it'd be useful methinks... Shishi also doesn't seem like the worst driver from what we see of him actually behind the wheel himself (vs. having a lackey drive) but I don't trust him like that... lol... I also do not remember Nishiki's driving at all even though I recall he's a Car Guy (as of 0, anyway) so I couldn't place him

#the guy who leasing the house out to us said he does a full clean once a week and i heaved a sigh of relief#(I'm exaggerating but only slightly)#also won't have neighbors stomping around and playing loud music seemingly every evening/night?#and I'll be paying less rent at the new place so hopefully i can start funneling more into savings again#i am not in a place to be able to leave this state yet for various reasons#but I'd like to be able to eventually#would love to be able to buy like. a townhouse. a condo. a small house maybe#either here or wherever i end up
